most expensive 20meg service in country is VM
I ceased some of my services last month only leaveing my 20 meg broadnand service, guess what? is costs £37.00 a month, I quote:
Broadband XL(20)
Bundle charges total
£37.00
VM adjusted my 20meg line to pay max charge for a 59 meg line but only provide a 20 meg line.
My services telephone etc where ceased on 24th January 2012 Guess what VM added 2 weeks extra: I quote:
Line Rental 12 Feb - 18 Feb
Talk 08 2 12 Feb - 18 Feb
Talk Unlimited 12 Feb - 18 Feb
Changes to bundle total
CR £1.61
I consider VM nother more than overcharging money adding con men who will punish you if you dare to leave them.

Not sure exactly what you're on about a 59Mb line but VM dont do a 20Mb service anymore, it was replaced by 30Mb which is £27.50 per month without a phone line or £18.50 with a VM phone line.
Perhaps giving them a call before cancelling may have done the trick

Get out of contract.. join BT infinity.
Or moan and obtain a loyalty discount aswell as a dowsngrade to match a reasonable price you accept for a slower speed or get a speed upgrade.
Not sure if 'thinking of leaving' is open tomorrow.. Try Monday. Not sure wehat the direct numberr is. You can always ask to be put through via customer service/bb support.

If infinity was in my area I would be with them
Just also checked VM added 3 extra weeks rental to my old contract after it was ceased.

Either give them a call tomorrow and get your price fixed from the disconnections department, or switch to BT Infinity

VM do not do a 20Mb and charge for 50Mb. Never heard anything so ridiculous before.
Prices for stand alone broadband are much higher than if you take other services too.
20Mb was phased out and replaced with 30mb however unless you got a superhub you would remain on 20Mb.
I would call them and ask to speak to retentions.

Hi Stephen, yes I don't have a super hud, was never informed about this, hence remained on a old 20meg line. I fully understand stand alone pricing structure but not why im charged 37 quid for a 20meg line. I will phone retentions tomorow and see why I am been charged this £37 pounds and why 3 weeks extra rental was added to my account after VM was informed on the 15th December 2011 to ceased alll but broadband on the 24th january 2012.
Yes I am outside my contract.

You must be on an old billing system or something because i vaguely remember also being charged £37 per month also. How long have you been a VM/ntl/telewest customer?
Just give retentions a call and im sure they will be able to offer you a better price.

You won't be on an old billing "system" as it's all been ICOMS for a long time now. I suspect you don't have the correct billing codes on you account. Speak to Customer Care or Relations if you get no joy with billing.

Re: most expensive 20meg service in country is VM
Hi all, well sorted it semi out seems that my broadband is charged at 30 meg, although I don't get 30 meg and because I asked bt to take over my number i was charged for three weeks line rental number because BT took it over.
Still find it odd that i pay for something I don't get and charged for transfering my number. Anyway raised a complaint with oftel.

Im confused. What does BT have to do with your VM 30Mb cable connection? It can take up to 24 hours for the new speeds to take effect but usually instantly.
If BT have taken over your phone line from Virgin Media this still is not going to effect your cable broadband connection as it doesn't go through your phone line, its totally seperate.

If I can explain I moved my telephone service to BT and told VM I only wanted to retain broadband at 20meg (what I had) as VM do not have a 20 meg charge I am charged at the 30 meg rate. I can have a 30 meg broadband if I pay VM for a super hub, otherwise I will have to pay for a 30meg line untill the upgrade later in the year.
The telephone query I am told if I disconected the service and never took the number to BT there would be a refund from the date re quested, but as I asked BT to transfer the number I am charged an extra 3 weeks rental.
